  5. Baltimore. In 1927 he demonstrated that a "biological clock"
  6. governs the eating, drinking, sleeping and sexual behavior of
  7. animals. Richter's studies of the body's biorhythms led to the
  8. understanding of such afflictions as sleeplessness, jet lag and
  9. stress reactions.
